Hi, I’m Jo from Little Hands Learning Family Day Care based in Glen Iris. Little Hands Learning Family Day Care is play based with Reggio influences. The Reggio Emilia Approach is an innovative and inspiring approach to early childhood education which values the child as strong, capable and resilient. Each child is rich with wonder and knowledge. Every child brings with them deep curiosity and potential, and this creates their interest to understand their world and their place within it. This philosophy drives my programme and planning for each individual child.
I provide a home away from home and love supplying children in care with a loving, caring and sustainable environment. At my service you will see a natural environment full of loose parts, where kids can let their imaginations run wild.
My personal philosophy: Little Hands Learning Family Day Care service provides the highest quality care to children of all ages in a safe and natural environment. We focus on open-ended learning opportunities and learning through play within a welcoming home environment. Children will receive individual attention within a small group setting that focuses on child-led learning.
To me, family day care means an extension to one’s family, in a safe home. An enriching environment were children learn beneficial life skills. This is a place where all children feel safe and included so they can grow, learn and play. A safe small group allows me to foster one-to-one relationships with each and every child. This enables me to structure our daily and weekly programs around the children’s individual development level and their own likes.
As we focus on a more natural approach to our learning and activities there is minimal finished products that children take home. However, you will get to see some awesome photos of our creativity at work and some of the adventures we have. I believe in teaching children about the joys that nature can hold, while also teaching the importance of recycling and sustainability.
