Hi, I’m Erica from Malvern Springs Family Day Care and I believe in providing children with a warm, safe, inclusive, educational and stimulating environment, to ensure that all children have the best start in life to create a better future for themselves. I believe that each child, family and educator is a unique and valuable individual and that their cultures, customs, language, values and beliefs should be respected. I aspire to develop secure, genuine and respectful relationships between all children and families through open, honest and effective communication. I will work to support families and share information that is of benefit to their child’s development and wellbeing.
Each and every day I feel privileged to have the opportunity to see the world through the eyes of a child, to join in their laughter, and to be included in their games. This is how I have chosen to spend my days, I have an enormous amount of patience and time coupled with positive reinforcement and my love for children, makes me a nurturing childcare provider. I view my chosen profession as a career, not as just a job. Therefore, I look forward to keeping children smiling and safe for many years to come.
The first five years of a child’s life is important and can influence their approach to learning in the future. I aim to provide age appropriate activities which foster development and lead a child to reach their full potential. I will provide children with a programme to follow but knowing that this could take us anywhere, and together we extend on activities and follow on from it… I believe the children and families set the programme through communication with me and spontaneous moments that occur through play based learning. I believe that learning is the purpose of life, most learning comes from experience either direct or vicarious, and I see it as my responsibility to help children learn from their own experiences, often designing situations or standing back and supporting them in whatever the outcome may be…
Family day care should be provided to the child in a way that stimulates and develops the child’s creative, emotional, intellectual, lingual, physical, recreational and social potential. I provide them with secure and healthy environment because in the early years of life, children develop their knowledge and skills that support their approach to learning, relationships and decision making in the future.
Children are motivated to learn when they have opportunities to make choices in an environment that is enriching and stimulating, I strive to provide children with a rich environment where they feel safe to explore and feel free to express themselves
My philosophy follows the National Quality Framework (NQF) principles of Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and I implement these principles in all my FDC practices.
