Hi, I’m Katharine Kenworthy. I am the educator at Dunsborough Family Day Care, which operates from my family home in Dunsborough. I am a qualified Early Childhood and Primary school teacher. I began teaching in 1996 and opened my Day Care in 2016. I have 22 years experience in teaching and caring for young children. The majority of my teaching is with K-2, Day Care experience ranges from 4 months-3.5 years, and my life experience includes children ranging from 0-17 years of age. I am married and have three lovely teenage children.
I am a member of the Teacher’s Registration Board and hold a current Working with Children Card. I have an accredited First Aid certificate that includes Anaphylaxis and Asthma Management training.
I live in Dunsborough Lakes and have a beautiful, leafy, secure backyard with an alfresco area. The garden includes a separate area for our canine family member. Your children will have plenty of room to move around in the large, open plan family room, dining area and kitchen. They will have use of the family bathroom, toilet and lounge.
I offer a program of daily activities that cater to the needs and interests of each child. As I believe children learn best through play, I will provide many varied experiences to enhance this play based learning. We will play outside with sand, mud and water, do arts and craft, play inside, cook, listen to and create music, dance, read stories and go on nature walks. The children will develop early Literacy and Numeracy skills through play and the natural environment around them.
Your child will enjoy a range of healthy food during morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. The children will assist in the preparation of some meals as I believe this promotes ownership and therefore enhances the enjoyment of the food. The children will be encouraged to drink plenty of water during Care.
I aim to create an environment for your children where they feel safe, nurtured and accepted. It is an awesome privilege to be part of your children’s lives and contribute to their care and education. I will give your child that ‘at home’ nurturing that I was able to provide my children in their early years. I look forward to a positive partnership with you as we work together to flourish your child.
